150 Years, Reimagined
Non-Profit
Evolving an iconic market’s brand to honor its history while bringing fresh energy to what’s next.
The Brief
For 150 years, North Market has been a cornerstone of its community—rich with history, culture, and character. But while its legacy remained strong, its brand had not kept pace.
More than a decade had passed since the last design update, leaving the visual and verbal identity feeling dated and misaligned with the vibrant, dynamic experience North Market delivers every day. As the market approached a major milestone anniversary, there was a clear need to evolve—without losing the soul that made it iconic.
The challenge was to modernize the brand in a way that celebrated its history, resonated with new audiences, and felt unmistakably North Market—then, now, and into the future.

Brand Guidelines

North Market partnered with Holden Ellis to reimagine its brand for a new era. The brief was to create a brand evolution—not a reinvention—that honored 150 years of history while standing confidently on its own in today’s cultural landscape. The identity needed to feel vibrant, fun, and alive, capturing the energy of the market while giving it a fresh visual and verbal presence.

Every element needed to balance reverence and relevance—bringing new life to the brand without erasing what made it beloved. The result would be a flexible, future-ready identity that could carry North Market through its next chapter, while still rooted in the legacy that started it all.
